4SD in action

As we work to build the skills, systems and synergies for sustainable development in line with our principles and purpose, we have a number of ongoing strategic collaborations and large scale projects that we are proud to feature here.

Our immersions and network explore and engage with the 2030 Agenda through the lens of ‘Living Systems’. Designed to help you embrace and navigate complexity, cognition, uncertainty and dilemmas. They equip you with the tools to bring about purpose-driven and people-centred change.

Engaging thousands with Food Systems Summit Dialogues

On 21 February 2020, our Strategic Director and Co-Director of the Imperial College Institute of Global Health Innovation at the Imperial College London, Dr David Nabarro, was appointed as one of six Special Envoys to the World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General on COVID-19. In this role, David provides strategic advice and high-level political advocacy and engagement in different parts of the world to help WHO coordinate the global response to the pandemic.

In preparation for the United Nations Secretary-General’s September 23rd 2019 Climate Action Summit, we were a supporting institution of the Nature Based Solutions (Track #8). As a result, the Nature-Based Solutions for Climate Manifesto was developed.

Our Strategic Director, Dr David Nabarro, is the Curator and was an initial coordinator of FSDs initiated by EAT, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and the World Economic Forum.

The focus of the FSDs is to connect actors and share experiences so that food system transformations occur within defined locations (for example nations, cities, districts, territories, landscapes, watersheds). Issues are carefully framed so that there is scope for open interactions between actors in a context characterized by mutual respect and trust.
