Living Systems for Sustainable Development

Collective mentoring: 4SD Immersions and Network

You are inspired by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with its vision of the future for people and planet, and principles that apply everywhere. You work in contexts that are complex and unpredictable, engaging with many stakeholders and systems. You seek new ways to tackle complex issues. Your responsibilities cut across sectors and disciplines. You are responsible for bringing the 2030 Agenda to life.

It is exciting, absorbing... and not easy!

You want to become more effective as a convenor, curator, enabler and mentor of the people with whom you work. You would like to be accompanied by others with experience who can understand your challenges.

4SD can help. 4SD Immersions and network explore and engage with the 2030 Agenda through the lens of Living Systems. They are designed to help you on your journey as you embrace and navigate complexity, cognition, uncertainty, chaos, dilemmas, emergences and other dimensions inherent to Living Systems.

During a 4SD 3-day residential Immersion you will examine, and reflect on, the context of your work. You will dive into the world of Living Systems. You will become more aware of your own living system and the living systems in which we all participate. You will realize that this enhances your ability to influence and enable purposeful cooperation. You will develop relevant and effective ways to transform your challenges and to lead meaningful and enduring change.

After the Immersion, you will have the opportunity to engage in a Network of practitioners for generative futures. In this Network, 4SD curates and facilitates further on-line interactions between former participants in immersions who are learning from and coaching each other.

In 2019, 4SD will organize:

  • Living Systems for Sustainable Development

Three 3-day Immersions on Living Systems for Sustainable Development (May 13-15 and July 1-3 near Geneva, and October 21- 23, venue to be decided), where participants will have the opportunity to acquire and test a range of tools and look at what they do with different eyes.

  • Living Systems Leadership for Sustainable Development

One 3-day Immersion on Living Systems Leadership for Sustainable Development (December 9-11, venue to be decided) for those who have completed the first Immersion. They are designed for leaders who will benefit from ongoing exchanges and continuous learning as they navigate the worlds of living systems.

How much does a 4SD Immersion cost?

We recognize that what is affordable for some can be a financial stretch for others. We therefore offer two prices for one Immersion and one-year membership of 4SD facilitated Network:

  • Generous price

Includes a contribution making participation possible for one person who otherwise would not be able to afford the full cost: CHF 3,150

  • Supported price

Reflecting a partial bursary toward the total cost: 1,250 CHF

Our quoted prices are fully inclusive of your participation in an Immersion (tuition fee, course materials, full board, lodging in individual bedroom, meals and refreshments) and your access to the 4SD Network for a year. Traveling costs to and back from Geneva and personal costs such as insurance, drinks and phone calls are not included.
